Butterfly Mandala Journal
My favorite books have always been the ones that I can write or draw in (although, admittedly, I tend to even draw in the books with words!) and the most treasured of these have always been the ones that have a leather cover. The smell, timelessness, beauty and durability of leather is unmatched with other materials. And, of course, when you add a bit of artwork the treasure becomes all the more precious.
This journal is in the Butterfly Mandala pattern with little bits of life and lifecycle of the butterfly woven throughout. It is full of color - orange, yellow, pink, green, turquoise and silver all appear - and it is finished with an antique black wash.
This journal fits books approximately 8.25" tall by 5" wide (large moleskine size), and has a snap closure. I will provide a blank filler book, which is removable so you can use a book of your own, or just re-fill it when you run out of space.
I start with a thick tooling leather and cut, brand, paint and dye it before covering it with a protective finish to keep the colors safe. This book has a snap closure.
