Madrid Guitar Strap
Years of Seattle winters, that bleed into spring and summer and start in early fall, have me forever dreaming of the color and imagery of the Southwest. And, of course, the sun. So, until I return, I’ll capture bits of pieces of it in my memory and in my artwork, as in the Madrid (pronounced they do in New Mexico) Guitar Strap.
I start with a tooling leather then cut, brand, paint, and dye it, and then apply a protective coat to keep it safe from the elements. Because I use a thick tooling leather, it will soften up quickly but maintain it's shape and will last for many years (I've seen ones 40 years old with life still left in them made from the same type of leather). All sides of the strap have been dyed and protected, too, so the dye won't redeposit on clothes or instruments.
STRAP STYLE: Standard strap is 2.5” wide. See the last photo for the two layouts.
Traditional (bottom): Tapered at one end. This strap works best for guitars. Adjusts from 38" to 52"
